The Westminster Presbyterian Church was onstructed in 1927 and designed by Sacramento architects Dean and Dean. The building is a 20th century fusion of several historic styles and centuries including Byzantine, Early Medieval Romanesque, and Gothic. The property was listed at the local level of significance n the area of architecture for its importance in Sacramento’s architectural evolution as an original, creative church design from the 1920s. The building is a sophisticated blending of various sizes and shapes and numerous historical influences. The architect stated this was his finest design. It was featured on the cover of a 1928 issue of The Architect and Engineer. In 1929 the American Institute of Architects awarded the church a certificate of honor.
